IREX is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted
for the 2013-2014 Individual Advanced Research Opportunities Program
and Short Term Travel Grants Program. These innovative and flexible
programs offer U.S. scholars and professionals the opportunity to
conduct policy-relevant research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
Researchers are able to increase their understanding of current
regional issues, develop and sustain international networks, and
directly contribute to the formation of U.S. public policy by
conducting research on topics vital to the academic and policymaking
communities. Fellowships provide international airfare, a
living/housing stipend, visa support, emergency evacuation insurance,
logistical support and, in many countries, field office support.

The Individual Advanced Research Opportunities Program (IARO) provides
students, scholars and professionals with support to conduct
policy-relevant field research in the countries of Eastern Europe and
Eurasia.
* Eligibility: Master’s students, pre-doctoral students, postdoctoral
scholars, and professionals with advanced degrees are eligible.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

The Short-Term Travel Grants Program (STG) is a short-term, flexible
program for postdoctoral scholars and professionals to conduct
targeted, policy-relevant research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
* Eligibility: Postdoctoral scholars and professionals with advanced
degrees are eligible. Applicants must be US citizens.

Eligibility:The Nieman-Berkman Fellowship is open to both United States citizens and citizens of other countries. Candidates should either be working journalists or work for a news organization in a business, technology, or leadership capacity. Independent journalists are also welcome to apply.

Scholarship Description: The fellowship is a collaboration between two parts of Harvard: the Nieman Foundation for Journalism and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society. Both share a set of common interests around journalism, innovation, and the evolution of the digital space. And both have longstanding fellowship programs that give people a year to learn and collaborate with others in the Harvard community.

Scholarship Description: Highly qualified undergraduate students are invited to apply for scholarships funding study, senior thesis research and/or internships in Germany. The goal of this program is to support study abroad in Germany and at German universities. Scholarships are available either as part of an organized study abroad program or as part of an individual, student-designed study abroad semester or year.

Fellowship: 2013 Rotary Peace Fellowships‏

The Rotary Peace Centers of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is currently recruiting for applicants for the 2013 Rotary Peace Fellowship. Applications are due 1 July 2012.

Over the past ten years, Rotary Peace Centers has provided over 600 future peace leaders with peace and conflict resolution education and field experience. Our alumni work all over the world with organization ranging from grassroots peace initiatives in Africa to the United Nations.

In an effort to reach out to more qualified candidates all over the world, Rotary is reaching out peace-related organizations and asking them to post our fellowship opportunity to their listserves or newsletters. Below is a short description of the fellowship and attached is a longer, more detailed description:

The Rotary Foundation is now accepting applications for the world-competitive Rotary Peace Fellowship. The fellowship provides academic and practical training to prepare scholars for leadership roles in solving conflicts around the world.

Up to 110 fellows are selected every year in a globally competitive process based on personal, academic, and professional achievements.

Fellows earn a master's-level degree or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict studies at one of six Rotary Peace Centers at leading universities in Australia, England, Japan, the United State, Sweden and Thailand.

Both programs require, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years of relevant work experience and proficiency in a 2nd language for the MA program and 5 years for the professional development certificate and proficiency in English.

NEC, Institute for Advanced Study in Bucharest, International Fellowships 2012-13‏

New Europe College – Institute for Advanced Study in Bucharest, Romania – announces the competition for Fellowships for the academic year 2012-13.

The program targets young international researchers/academics working in the fields of humanities, social studies, and economics.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be doctoral students in an advanced stage of their research, or hold a Ph.D. title. Preference is given to candidates under the age of 40, and to those who have not yet benefited from a NEC Fellowship.

Working languages: English, French, and German. A good command of English is desirable.

DURATION OF THE FELLOWSHIP: a) a full academic year (10 months, October through July) or b) a one-term fellowship (October through February, or March through July).

LOCATION: New Europe College – Institute for Advanced Study, Bucharest, Romania.

THE FELLOWSHIP CONSISTS OF: a monthly stipend of 600 Euro (tax free), accommodation, international transportation to and from the home country of the Fellows at the beginning and the end of the Fellowship, as well as for season holidays. The Fellows who stay for the whole academic year are offered a one-month research trip abroad to an institution of their choice (2,600 Euro for transportation, accommodation, and per diem). As an alternative, they can opt for a field research, in Romania or outside it.

The Fellows are expected to work on their own projects, and take part in the scientific events organized by the New Europe College. At the end of their Fellowship, each Fellow is expected to hand in a research paper, reflecting the results of his/her work over the duration of the Fellowship. The papers will be included in a NEC publication.

The deadline for the submission of applications is December 12, 2011.

Incomplete or late applications will not be taken into consideration.

The applicants will be notified on the results of the pre-selection at the beginning of March 2012, by e-mail. The shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview via Skype, organized on March 29-31, 2012.
